During the meeting, the role of “Dubai Customs” in enhancing the success of the World Expo was presented, through the Department’s initiatives and projects to support the participants in the exhibition. The meetings will continue with the organization of a new visit by a Korean delegation to the department, to learn about the best practices and initiatives developed by “Dubai Customs” to serve the participants in the Expo.

Dubai Customs affirmed its keenness to meet all requirements to support Korean traders and facilitate trade with the Republic of Korea, which is one of the important partners in Dubai’s trade.

It is noteworthy that the Republic of Korea is the first country in the world with which the UAE has signed a mutual recognition agreement for the implementation of the Authorized Economic Operator Program. With the aim of enhancing mutual trade between the two friendly countries, which shows the depth of the economic and trade relations that Dubai Customs is keen to support through cooperation with diplomatic bodies, companies and traders from the Republic of Korea.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih said that Dubai Customs is keen to enhance cooperation with the diplomatic bodies of the Republic of Korea in order to develop the economic and trade partnership between Dubai and the friendly Republic of Korea, noting that the meeting with the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai came to discuss joint coordination in order to increase the volume of work. the value of trade exchanged between the two parties; The value of Dubai’s foreign trade with the Republic of Korea in the first quarter of 2021 amounted to about 3,238 billion dirhams, distributed to imports worth 2,551 billion dirhams, exports worth 549,782 million dirhams, and re-exports amounted to 137,473 million dirhams, and in the year 2020 the value of Dubai’s foreign trade amounted to the Republic of Korea 13.56 billion dirhams, distributed to imports with a value of 11,505 billion dirhams, exports with a value of 1,599 billion dirhams, and re-exports with a value of 456,917 million dirhams.

He added that the department is working to provide the best services and facilities to all participants in the World Expo. In order to support the success of the exhibition in promoting global economic recovery with international progress towards recovery from the “Covid-19” pandemic crisis, noting that the partners from the Republic of Korea were briefed on the projects and initiatives developed by the department to serve the participants in the exhibition, especially the dedicated smart customs channel Expo. To provide facilities for exhibitors and service the temporary entry book for materials that enter the UAE through the border ports of the Emirate of Dubai for exhibition at the Expo, in addition to allocating a customs office for the department at the Expo site to serve the participants in the exhibition, enabling them to benefit from all the projects and initiatives developed by Dubai Customs to enhance trade exchange With all countries of the world.
