The number of employees of banks operating in the UAE (60 banks) increased by 450 new employees during the second quarter of 2022, bringing the number of employees to 34,332 employees at the end of last June, compared to 33,882 employees at the end of March 2022, according to data released yesterday by the UAE Central Bank.
The increase in the number of employees was spread over 423 new employees joining national banks (23 banks) operating in the country, bringing the number of employees in the national banks to 27,545 employees at the end of June 2022, compared to 27,122 employees at end of March 2022.
While the number of new employees in foreign banks (37 banks) reached about 27, bringing the number of employees in foreign banks operating in the UAE to 6,787 compared to 6,760 employees in the same comparative period.
The number of national banks operating in the UAE increased to 23 at the end of June 2022, compared to 22 banks in May 2022, with a new national bank being licensed, Wio Digital Bank, owned by both Holding and Alpha Abu Dhabi Holding Etisalat and First Abu Dhabi Bank with a capital of 2.3 billion dirhams, which is an integrated digital banking platform.
As for foreign banks, they remained unchanged at 37, including 27 commercial banks providing all banking services, in addition to 10 commercial banks.
