Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade hits AED 16bn in June 2020

UAE – Mubasher: The total value of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade went up by 0.8% to AED 16 billion in June 2020, compared to AED 15.9 billion in the same month of 2019.

Abu Dhabi saw a 74.6% increase in exports to AED 6.67 billion during June 2020, compared to AED 3.82 billion in June 2019, according to data by the Statistics Centre − Abu Dhabi (SCAD).

On the other hand, the emirate’s re-exports and imports decreased by 36.4% and 13.6%, respectively.

During the first six months of 2020, the value of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade decreased by 7.9% to AED 96.2 billion from AED 104.5 billion in the year-ago period.

Lower non-oil foreign trade is driven by a 32.2% decrease in re-exports to AED 17.8 billion in the January-June period of 2020 and a 1.7% decline in the imports to AED 48.6 billion.

At the same time, the non-oil exports increased by 3.6% to AED 29.9 billion in the first six months of 2020 from AED 28.8 billion in the corresponding period of 2019.

Saudi Arabia topped Abu Dhabi’s foreign trade partners with AED 3.977 billion, followed by Hong Kong with 1.668 billion.
