Award Winning Children’s Cutlery Brand primed for growth in 2024

Nana’s Manners will expand its operations, helping more babies, toddlers and preschoolers early years development, globally.

Children’s cutlery innovator, Nana’s Manners, is announcing strong projected growth for 2024. The brand expects to sell more units as parents wake up to the benefits of proper cutlery training and progression.

Nana’s Manners has a storied history. Husband and wife team Chris and Kathryn Baldrey-Chourio founded the company in 2017 and later appeared on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den series, obtaining £50,000 in exchange for a third of the business in 2017. By 2019, the company’s child development range was in shops and in 2022 the firm went global.

“We’re thrilled with the success we’ve experienced so far and grateful to all our partners who are making this happen. We’re looking forward to even more growth in 2024 so more parents can access must-have products for their babies, toddlers and young children to help develop their cutlery skills and early years development,” Kathryn said.

Nana’s Manners offers various graded cutlery ranges based on children’s grip types and motor skills at varying developmental stages. The first stage, the Weaning Range, is for babies four months and older. Infants at this age develop a conscious “fist grasp” with movement coming from the shoulder.

The Confidence range is the second-stage option for toddlers 12 months and older. It revolves around cutlery suitable for the pincer-style grasp used at this age, which involves the forefinger and thumb coming together.

Stage 3 is for children aged three to nine with more developed motor skills. Designers create the cutlery for the tripod grip that recruits the index, thumb, and middle finger.

“Our goal was to create the best cutlery for every stage of children’s development based on paediatric science,” co-founder Chris says. “It was all about finding designs that would naturally complement the techniques children use to grip knives, forks, and spoons, to make the whole thing more natural.”

Since Nana’s Manners’ debut on Dragons’ Den, it has achieved national success. The NHS, schools and nurseries all use its products and paediatric professionals across the UK recommend the brand. Awards include the Platinum and Gold Junior Design Awards, Made for Mums Awards Gold, and Progressive Preschools Awards Winner 2022.

“It’s not just the awards or the publicity on Dragon’s Den that keeps parents coming back to us,” Kathryn claims. “It’s also the fact that children can use our products to learn life skills that last a lifetime. Being brilliant at the basics is essential.”

Nana’s Manners also runs a blog where parents can learn more about what age to introduce cutlery and delicious recipes.
