So far, the autumn has been warmer than average. At the Baltic Sea, people were still swimming in October. But not everyone can be happy about the weather.

Timmendorfer Strand – High temperatures and lots of sunshine have shaped many parts of Germany in recent days. There was no question of autumn in October. Many people have used the last few days in the sun. Whether it was a walk in the park or eating ice cream, summer didn’t want to leave. At the beginning of October, some people also spent their time at the Baltic Sea, as a photographer showed.

Midsummer in October: sunbathing and swimming in the Baltic Sea

With 24 degrees in the sun, locals and holidaymakers were able to really enjoy the weather again. On Facebook, a user shared a picture of Timmendorfer Strand, which was taken on October 2. It shows a summery scenario: a family plays with a ball in the sea, another child collects something on the beach. Other visitors stayed in the beach chairs or even went swimming, the photographer of the picture wrote to the post. “And that’s in October, as if it were the Costa Blanca in Spain,” the user said.

It’s not just the Facebook user, who, according to his profile entry, comes from Malente, who is surprised by the warm weather in October. “(…) These temperatures are not normal for an October (climate change) and it’s probably getting ‘worse’ every year,” one user speculated in the comments. “There have always been nice, warm days in October. But now it’s climate change,” said another user. “It’s great bathing weather,” was another comment.

Weather change in Germany: Summer weather says goodbye – snow possible

In other parts of Germany, too, the thermometer showed well over 20 degrees. For example, one user reported that 28 degrees were measured in her place of residence. “Crazy this weather at this time of year,” she wrote. “Yesterday we had almost 30 degrees,” reported another user. Not everyone thinks about the bitter aftertaste. “You can enjoy it, winter is long,” another user commented.

He will probably be right, because the weather experts are announcing a drop in temperature from the second half of October. It could soon snow in Lower Saxony, as a weather meteorologist predicts. The rain that has dominated the north in recent days could soon turn into snow. In other parts of Germany, too, the unusually warm weather is bidding farewell. Temperatures below ten degrees, rain and squalls will move across the country from the middle of the month. (UK)
