Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in Oman, has announced the opening of a new hypermarket at the Mall of Oman, which recently opened in the Bowshar area of Muscat.

The grand opening of Carrefour’s 15th store in Oman underlines its position as a trusted partner of communities throughout the Sultanate. Spread over 9,000 square metres and with over 45,000 food and non-food products, Carrefour continues to show its commitment to provide customers with an unrivalled shopping experience, allowing them to enjoy accessibility to the highest-quality products at affordable prices.

The Carrefour Hypermarket at Mall of Oman will introduce new services delivered by the latest technologies to customers in the Sultanate, such as self-checkout, scan & go, and queue busting, as well as existing services such as mobile scan & go. This will create a more convenient shopping experience for individuals by giving them a variety of check-out options which can save their time and effort. The location is also near multiple neighbourhoods in Muscat, providing easy access from all major routes in the capital.

Commenting on the opening, Alain Enjalbert, Country Manager of Carrefour Oman at Majid Al Futtaim Retail said, “At Carrefour, we strive to provide customers with an unforgettable experience every time they enter our stores, and those efforts are reflected in the variety of new services available. Introducing services such as self-checkout will not only help shoppers save time, but it also promotes contactless shopping experiences which are important to many people, especially during these times. In our efforts to provide our customers with unbeatable prices and value, our latest expansion will provide even greater convenience to the communities we serve in Oman.”

Merging its two missions to set the standard as a sustainable business and one that helps uplift the surrounding community, Carrefour, will be selling reusable bags handmade by local women in collaboration with Dar Al Attaa, a local charity organisation aimed to create a radical change in the lives of our families and individuals. The bags will be available for customers to purchase in store and the local initiative will help support the ‘Women’s Empowerment Programme’, an initiative to support SME’s after they have been greatly affected by the pandemic.

As a bonus and to celebrate the grand opening of Carrefour in Mall of Oman, customers can win gift cards worth RO 50 each during the coming four weekends. To participate, customers need to take selfies using the specially installed ‘Selfie Wall’ and then post their photos on Carrefour Oman’s Facebook page, using the hashtag #CarrefourOman and tag a friend.
