Christie, the global visual and audio technology company and official projection and display partner for Expo 2020 Dubai, has revealed its Christie 1DLP laser projectors are fascinating guests with stunning visuals in the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The 1,364 square-metre (14,681 square-foot) cylindrical pavilion, located in the Expo’s Sustainability District, greets guests with a selection of art installations, an interactive light and sound experience, and a 360-degree theatre at its core.

With the envisioned theme of “The Future in Mind”, the Canada pavilion features both outdoor and indoor elements, with AV systems designed, installed, commissioned, and programmed by Electrosonic.

Canadian contracting company EllisDon, alongside Lord Cultural Resources, NGX Interactive and kubik maltbie as strategic partners, were awarded the contract to design, build and maintain the pavilion. kubik maltbie engaged Christie partner Electrosonic and Eos Lightmedia to deliver the AV systems and interactive lighting systems respectively, to be installed in the pavilion’s public presentation spaces.

Four seasons

The journey starts in a 52.5-metre circular space, rigged with a 360-degree projection screen, a video server running media from NGX Interactive, and outputting to 13 additional DHD1075-GS projectors. The 10,000-lumen projectors are suspended from a truss in the middle of the room enabling media projection as a single, continuous 360-degree image.

The full-circumference theatre experience enables visitors to sample Canada’s four seasons and be inspired by the vast Canadian landscape.

Senior project manager at Electrosonic, Rob Stallard says “COVID-19 was certainly a challenge, but the team was able to work flexibly and with agility to overcome the many struggles that COVID placed on the project. The expert collaboration between our offices and the equipment manufacturers, partners and the customer ensured we met the struggle head-on. We were beyond pleased with the result.”
