Louvre Abu Dhabi and New York University Abu Dhabi signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen the existing collaboration between them in the most prominent areas of education, research, talent development, programs and artistic performances.
Manuel Rabaté, Director of the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, said: “The MoU with NYU Abu Dhabi celebrates the continued development of our partnership and gives us further impetus to pursue our mission of telling stories about the cultural connections between different civilizations throughout history through our exhibitions and educational and cultural programs.” He added: “The memorandum paves the way for participation in creative initiatives that open wider horizons of inspiration and creativity for students, artists, researchers, teachers, all workers and those interested in the artistic and cultural movement in the Emirates. Our bilateral projects confirmed the extent of the values ​​and visions that unite us,” adding, “We are confident that the memorandum will contribute to enriching the cultural and artistic scene in the country.”
Mariette Westerman, vice president of NYU Abu Dhabi, said: “Our partnership with Louvre Abu Dhabi goes deeper than just hosting seminars, workshops and cultural programs. She added: “We look forward to continuing to work to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as the capital. culture and to contribute to the formation of future leaders in various fields of art by creating a platform for the exchange of ideas.”
The memorandum of understanding defines mechanisms for cooperation between the two sides, including the exchange of professors, staff and students and the revival of cultural events.

Louvre Abu Dhabi and New York University Abu Dhabi have previously organized successful projects, including the “Museums in a New Framework” virtual symposium that discussed the challenges and responsibilities of museums during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the China-Golf Forum at New York University Abu Dhabi, in addition to dialogues celebrating the university’s tenth anniversary. The list of their joint projects also includes the exhibition Calligraphy and Digital Murals, “Rhythms on the Roof” poetry and music evenings at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, three modern dance performances by Akash Odedra, DJ Spocky, and an art history workshop, in addition to, among others, For the collaboration of scientists and academics from New York University Abu Dhabi with conservation and restoration experts at the Louvre Abu Dhabi in a project to study the influence of works of art with the factor of time.
