Google has teamed up with videogame Cyberpunk 2077 and the NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming service to promote the power of cloud gaming on the Chromebook Plus. This Saturday, November 18, the company will launch its first 3D, immersive OOH execution in Times Square. The activation will play into an ongoing three-year mystery in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, with a discoverable easter egg code hidden in the activation for the community to crack.

The activation also leverages IP partner Cyberpunk 2077 from developer CD PROJEKT RED, celebrating the newly released spy-thriller expansion “Phantom Liberty” and the free Update 2.0 to the base game.

To amplify the experience beyond New York, the team will engage audiences across multiple owned and earned media channels, including brand and partner social and YouTube. Paid media before and after will encourage viewers to “crack the code,” revealing a secret easter egg hidden in the creative, continuing a long line of clues to the fanbase who have been collectively taking part in solving a secret riddle that has had players guessing for three years.

Players have sought hints across multiple games, solved logic and math puzzles, and found unique in-game experiences. Now they get one more clue following the free 2.0 game update. Territory Studio and EssenceMediacom, via its Media Futures Group (MFG) team, created the experience in partnership with Google.

“Gamers everywhere are delighting in the unexpected superpower of cloud gaming on Chromebook Plus,” said Google VP Marketing Adrienne Lofton. “We’re thrilled to partner with NVIDIA GeForce NOW and CD PROJEKT RED to bring the power of Chromebook Plus to life in the heart of Times Square. And if the eye-popping, 3D visuals weren’t enough, we’re leveling up the experience with a vital clue from the Cyberpunk 2077 developers to a fan-favorite mystery that’s been years in the making!”

In collaboration with NVIDIA, several Chromebooks built for gaming offer GeForce NOW Ultimate, the cloud gaming service’s highest performance tier streaming off GeForce RTX 4080-powered servers, meaning titles – including the featured Cyberpunk 2077 – with streaming up to 1600p resolution and 120 frames per second.

“In the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, technology is an essential presence that weaves itself into every aspect of Night City residents’ lives,” added Kamil Kosz, Global Brand Marketing Director at CD PROJEKT RED. “Our collaboration with tech leaders Google and NVIDIA for the Chromebook Plus launch is a remarkable opportunity to showcase that AAA gaming is now universally accessible, breaking down barriers between innovation and inclusivity. We’re thrilled that more people can now experience Cyberpunk 2077, a game dedicated to delivering an incredible experience and action-packed story. We hope these new eagle-eyed players can take a crack at the mystery we’ve created!”
