DEWA’s Moro Hub, Huawei break ground for solar-powered green data center

Representational Image Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Huawei Middle East & Africa (MEA), have broken ground for the first phase of the largest solar-powered Uptime TIER III-Certified data center in the MEA region.  The data center will be built by Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of DEWA at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai. With a capacity of more than 100 megawatts (MW), the carbon-neutral green data center will run entirely on renewable energy. The agreement for the green data center was signed between the two entities in May 2021. The ground-breaking was done by Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Mr. Steven Yi, President of Huawei MEA, which was attended by Mr. Marwan bin Haidar, Vice Chairman of Digital and Group CEO of Digital DEWA, Mr. Waleed bin Salman, Vice Chairman of Energy, Digital DEWA, Mr. Matar Al Mehairi, Board Member of Digital DEWA, Mr. Mohammad bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub, Mr. Jerry Liu, CEO of Huawei UAE, and other officials from both sides.
