Al Jalila Children’s Specialized Hospital, the first and only hospital specializing in pediatrics and adolescents in the UAE, announced the launch of the 25th session of the International Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry conference, yesterday at the Dubai World Trade Center, in the presence of His Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, and a number of Officials, as the conference, with its first being held in the region, highlights some of the latest innovations in the field of mental health promotion.

In her speech during the opening of the conference, which will be held during the period from 6 to 9 December, under the slogan “Mental Health for Children and Adolescents: Shaping the Future”, Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, stressed the importance of the UAE hosting this important conference, which is organized by The World Organization for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, within the framework of exchanging ideas on promoting mental health, and based on the latest global trends, research, initiatives and best experiences. practices.

Her Excellency said: The conference is in line with the vision of the UAE government, as the strategies and initiatives of the National Program for Happiness and Wellbeing of the Ministry of Community Development confirm that quality of life remains a priority for the UAE government, which is directly reflected through the objectives of the “National Strategy for Wellbeing”. Specifically, in my goals of “providing care and sustaining good mental health” and “inspiring positive thinking as a basic value of life.”

Her Excellency Hessa Buhumaid pointed out the importance of proactive and preventive action and speed of response when it comes to psychological, social and physiological factors affecting the mental health of children and adolescents, including early signs, risk factors, early intervention, continuous support and inclusiveness.

The opening ceremony included performances by the Youth Orchestra and the Dubai Center for Special Care, followed by a session on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Children, in which Philippe Robai, Team Leader of ADHD Specialists at Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario; Maftou Mohamed, award-winning psychiatrist and graduate of King’s College London; and Nelly Raafat, a professor of psychiatry at Zagazig University, to review their extensive experience with the disease.
