Abu Dhabi: Driverless taxis will soon appear on the roads in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, driverless taxis will be tested at Jumeirah One Zone.

According to Khaleej Times Dubai Road and Transport Authority official Khalid Al Awadi says that driverless taxis will soon be seen on the streets of Dubai.

Khalid Al Awadi says that 5 automatic taxis will be piloted in various locations, driverless taxis will be tested from Jumeirah One Zone.

He said that the trial of driverless taxis will be started in the next few weeks and before the end of this year.

The authority is preparing a map to drive smart vehicles in the Al Khalej commercial zone and the city centre, which will also include the addition of Jumeirah One Zone. These maps were prepared in July.

Al-Awadi said on the sidelines of the Jetex 2022 exhibition that the authority has decorated the self-driving taxi for public display at its booth at Jetex, one of tens of taxis in use in San Francisco that have become common there.

4 more such taxis will be brought and tested in Dubai.

Al-Awadi said that the cruise taxi that is being shown in Jetex is a smart vehicle and it has traveled 50,000 miles in San Francisco, people there have traveled with it.
