Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (Dtec) has partnered with the Joint Italian Arab Chamber of Commerce (JIACC). As part of the collaboration, they will launch a framework for knowledge- and information-sharing between Dtec and JIACC in relation to initiatives of mutual interest, participation at events, and studies and publications.

In line with the shared objective of both entities to foster ideal conditions for the development and growth of the Emirati and Italian innovation ecosystems, Dtec and JIACC understand the need to increase the mutual knowledge of the business environment and operational tools that can be made available to startups and scaleups in both countries. Hence, under the partnership, Dtec and JIACC will regularly exchange information on initiatives of mutual interest, cross-promote the participation at conventions, seminars, and meetings, and exchange information on respective studies or publications and boost visibility of initiatives organized by both parties.

Furthermore, as part of the partnership, Dtec will facilitate access to its services and programs for Italian startups and scaleups from JIACC’s “The Startup Desk”, while the latter will cross-promote the former’s services and programs.

Commenting on the partnership, Ghanim Al Falasi, Senior Vice President of Technology & Entrepreneurship at Dubai Silicon Oasis, said: “In line with DSO’s status as an integrated freezone technology park and Dtec’s position as a preferred destination for technology focused entrepreneurs and startups, we are keen on maintaining the momentum of regional and international partnerships following the active agenda of visits and MoUs during the recently concluded six-month Expo 2020 Dubai. The UAE and Italy share strong trade relations, and we are keen at DSO on building strong relations with JIACC to boost the number of Italian companies at the integrated free zone technology hub.”

For his part, Pietro Paolo Rampino, JIACC’s Co-Founder and Vice President said: “The UAE and Italy share significant bilateral relations, especially economically where in 2020, Italy was ranked the eighth largest trade partner of the UAE globally with its exports to the UAE amounting to US$4.72 billion and its imports from the UAE reaching US$5.19 billion. We are also confident in Dtec’s status as a lively hub for tech startups, who form a growing segment of society and the business ecosystem in the UAE, Italy, and across the globe. JIACC is committed to building bridges and expanding networks between entrepreneurs, startups, and VCs in Italy and the UAE to boost bilateral relations and benefit for both nations.”
