Dubai has always taken steps for the betterment of their country and making the region proud with its facilities and development. So, here’s another reason for the residents of Dubai to be proud as Dubai becomes the first municipality in the world to obtain this international certification.

The Dubai Municipality has achieved the international certification ISO/PAS 45005: 2020 (International Organization for Standardisation) for occupational health and safety management and the application of safe work procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The international certification was launched in December 2020 and according to the final report prepared by the British Standards Institute (BSI), Dubai is the first municipality in the world to obtain this recognition.

Formed in 1901, BSI (British Standards Institution) is a global organisation that provides businesses with the necessary solutions to turn standards of best practice into quality habits.

The Municipality has always aimed at working to adopt the best international standards and global specifications and to ensure the health and safety of all employees, partners, and customers during the ongoing pandemic.

On obtaining the prestigious award, His Excellence Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said, “In line with the government’s vision to make Dubai the world’s best city to live and work in, we have adopted and applied the highest global preventive standards and procedures to secure the health and safety of our employees at worksites.”

“We continue to maintain high levels of preparedness at the Municipality to ensure the continuity of operations, deliver our responsibilities and provide vital services both for strategic partners and customers across all sections of society,” he further added.
