Recent data from Fitbit users in the UAE suggested that they have exceeded their goals by as much as 23 percent during the 2020 Dubai Fitness Challenge 30×30. Users have averaged 37 active minutes per day during the entire month of the challenge. The Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) is an annual challenge that encourages people in the UAE to achieve 30 minutes of exercise per day for a period of 30 days.

Fitbit also revealed that users in the UAE aged 18 and above have increased their minutes in the ‘fat burn zone’ and some have also increased their cardio zone minutes. These activities alone can create positive impacts on users like lowering resting heart rates and BMI. Additionally, there was a recorded increase in the average step count of about 8 percent that covered a distance of 10 kilometers per day.

“In a year that has been different than any other, initiatives like the Dubai Fitness Challenge are hugely important to help bring communities together for a common purpose. Each year, DFC aims to motivate residents of all ages and abilities to focus on their overall health and wellbeing, and this goal is aligned with Fitbit’s aim to make everyone in the world healthier,” said Prateek Kewalramani, Senior Manager for Middle East & Africa at Fitbit.

“Fitbit empowers people to make small, consistent changes that can help people take control of their health and wellness. We can see from the results of DFC that setting daily goals to move more and being more cognizant of our overall well being, can yield results. We hope that residents of UAE are motivated by the impact of increasing their activity throughout the Challenge,” he concluded.

Fitbit is the Official Health and Wellness Partner of the DFC, where we saw various public events around Dubai. They also hosted socially distanced events and activities, encouraging residents to be active all while adhering to safety protocols due to the ongoing pandemic. Not only that but activities made for the home were also highlighted if you don’t feel like going out. Some of these activities were accessible through the Fitbit Premium paid membership service.
