Authorities in Dubai have reduced the two-metre social distancing rule to just one metre for some public places in the Emirate.

A circular sent to local businesses by Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing indicates that the rule applies to restaurants, cafes, shopping centres, gyms, beaches, entertainment parks and offices.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Sports Council has limited the overall capacity of sporting events to 80 per cent.
