MIAMI – Emirates (EK) has announced a new nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) slated to begin on July 22, 2021, according to an EK press release.
The service will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft per the release with a nighttime departure from MIA.
The largest airline and flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates was operating cargo flights from DXB to MIA since October 2020 under the Emirates SkyCargo division.
The Garhoud, Dubai-based airline previously operated a DXB and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) service in neighboring Broward County before the COVID-19 pandemic.

MIA Director and CEO Lester Sola per the release hailed the service as solidifying “MIA as a leading global gateway and Florida’s busiest airport for international passengers.”
EK Chairman and CEO His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum per the release said that the service “signals our confidence in travel recovery as countries progress on their vaccination programmes and implement protocols for the safe resumption of flight and travel activity, particularly in the US and the UAE.”
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava per the release welcomed EK along with “he enormous economic impact they are expected to bring to our County.”
With EK betting on reaching a 70% capacity mark by the 2021 winter season, launching service to MIA sends a message that the airline is focused on building a strong post-pandemic route network.
