DUBAI, 12th October 2020 (WAM) – Global expert, Jimmy Metzl, emphasized that societies need three main elements to foresee the future, which are to realize their capabilities and their location, to positively imagine the many and limitless paths for the future, to know the differences between the best scenarios and to identify the most effective ways to achieve them, noting that the future of humanity It cannot be predicted, but it can be prepared for it by continuous work to build it and improve it its potential and possibilities.
Metzel assessed – during the opening session on the second day of the “Dubai Future Forum” – that “the future can be positive if we work on three levels. The second level is national and depends on good governance on the part of governments, regulatory frameworks, values, behavior and ethics that guide future directions, and the third is individual, we deal It is with each individual as an active contributor to creating the future, and we take into account diversity, tolerance, inclusion and belief in our abilities as people.”
He stated that the main motive for anticipating the future is the human imagination, not technology, which is merely a possible possibility of its possibilities and perspectives. He said, “We have various technological tools such as machine learning, nanotechnology and biotechnology, but human nature is the foundation.”
He added: “We are now at a stage where humanity has the ability to share and transfer knowledge, thanks to 85% of the planet’s population having the ability to read and write, which translates to the ability of 6.5 people to share knowledge .”
He pointed out that some civilizations took thousands of years to achieve real innovations in human history, but today any creative idea such as algorithms or cells can be shared on the same day with the whole world, so everyone today is able to contribute a role in solving new problems and challenges.
On the role of technology, Dr. continued. Metzel: “Technology is a joint product of many sciences built by humanity over centuries, and algorithms led to the computer, which led to artificial intelligence and the clear interdependence of all inventions based on human innovation.”
On the role of human innovation in vital future sectors, he said: “In the future we will be able to decode health, develop health care capabilities by doing it preventively and proactively and develop an agricultural revolution that will enable our planet to support its people , which today is close to 8 billion people.”
On the role of biology in the human future, he explained: “The McKinsey Foundation for Studies estimates that 60% of sectors can benefit from the innovations of synthetic biology in the future.” He emphasized that Dubai is the city of the future, building it on the foundations of the past and the present, adding that even before the discovery, Olie had a strategic forward-looking vision for all that is possible.
He said: “The future is us as individuals, not our tools, and all we have to do is roll up our sleeves and build it together.”
