Emirates News Agency – “Sharjah Documentation” concludes its summer program for “Children’s Centers” affiliates

Sharjah, 24th August/ WAM/ The Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority has concluded its summer program aimed at consolidating documentary and archival awareness among children and youth, which included the delivery of five specialized workshops for affiliates at the Child Center in Al-Raqqa, Sharjah, under the slogan “My Documents is My Identity”, attended by more than 80 students.

The titles of the workshops presented during the program varied which is the source of memories and time travel to Sharjah and the fields of Sharjah. During the 5-day workshops, the children were taken on a journey to introduce the concept of document, its types and history, starting with the use of drawings, symbols and inscriptions on rocks and then on wooden boards and sticks, i.e. newspapers, made of white cloth.

At the end of the program, children’s love for reading was strengthened and the importance of reading was emphasized in educating them, expanding their mental abilities and increasing their awareness. The workshops received great interaction from the participating children who expressed their delight in these workshops which were presented in a distinctly interactive format as they contain valuable information on documentation and archiving, the richness of Sharjah’s history and the importance of preserving, writing and document it to serve future generations.
