Ford Motor Company is making electric truck selection simpler and more affordable with the introduction of the 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash. Positioned as a “tech-forward model,” the Lightning Flash is a bundled version of the existing Lighting XLT model, providing consumers with upgraded features at a starting price of just under $70,000.

One of the key upgrades in the F-150 Lightning Flash is the extended-range battery, which enhances the truck’s power and range. With two electric motors on each axle, the extended-range battery delivers up to 433 kilowatts of power, 580 horsepower, and 775 foot-pounds of torque. This is a significant improvement over the standard battery that offers 337kW, 452 horsepower, and an estimated range of 240 miles. The Lightning Flash’s extended-range battery provides an EPA-estimated maximum range of 320 miles.

In addition to the increased power and range, the Lightning Flash comes equipped with a range of standard tech features. These include a 15.5-inch infotainment touchscreen with swipe capability, a B&O audio system with eight speakers and a subwoofer, push-button starting, a driver’s side keyless entry pad, and a wireless charging pad.

Ford has also optimized the Lightning Flash for towing capabilities, offering a maximum towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds. This is supported by Ford’s Tow Technology Package, which includes trailer backup assistance, a trailer brake controller, onboard scales, and trailer reverse guidance. These features ensure a smoother towing experience and make the Lightning Flash an attractive option for hauling heavy loads.

Furthermore, owners of the Lightning Flash will have the opportunity to experience Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driver assistance package at no additional cost for 90 days. With features like hands-free lane changing and in-lane repositioning, BlueCruise enhances safety and convenience during long drives.

While the Lightning Flash may not be considered a bargain with its starting price of $69,995, it offers a range of features that cater to the needs and preferences of most buyers. For those looking for more affordable options, Ford also offers the F-150 Pro ($49,995) and the F-150 Lightning XLT ($57,495) models. On the higher end, there are the Lightning Lariat ($77,495), Lightning Platinum ($89,995), and the top-of-the-line Lightning Platinum Black ($97,995) models.

With the introduction of the 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash, Ford is setting the stage for a future where electric trucks are not only environmentally friendly but also accessible to a wider range of consumers.
