Top UAE students are set to be rewarded not just with good grades, but also with a UAE golden visa which allows long term rights to stay in the emirates, as well as discounted university fees at campuses set in free zones.
The first batch of students will be unveiled in September 2022.
The announcement was made by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Emirati students will also receive scholarships. The golden visa for expat students will also be made available to their family.
Universities and countries globally are increasingly looking for ways to keep top talent in the country, and the move by the UAE to look for ways to bolster its universities and keep the brightest minds in the country, will no doubt allow the country to be more competitive.
The move, Sheikh Hamdan said, “represents a roadmap to motivate high school students to excel and innovate” and to help them “achieve their future goals”.
