House of Originals Adds Dubai Hotel

Accor’s House of Originals has added a new location on the Dubai beachfront. A convivial indoor-outdoor destination for both day and night, the latest outpost was crafted by locally based Roar in homage to the lunar calendar. The average number of days in a lunar calendar month—29.53—informed the studio’s calculations and measurements for the project.

“The original idea was sparked by a late-night visit to the site when it was only a bare patch of land on Palm Jumeirah island. The twinkle of the moonlight on the sea was such a striking vision that it felt natural to bring it indoors,” says Pallavi Dean, founder and creative director of Roar and one of HD’s 2021 Wave of the Future inductees. “We also wanted to highlight the important role the lunar calendar plays in changing the hotel’s rhythm throughout the year as key moments occur in the country and the wider region, such as Ramadan, the two Eids, Hajj, or the Islamic new year.”

In addition to an alfresco eatery, House of Originals Dubai is anchored by an infinity pool lined with VIP cabanas. Several seating enclaves populate the lobby to instill calm. The design’s neutral backdrop is composed of green, blue, and dusty sunset hues, while decorative wall art showcases abstractions of the lunar calendar with rounded shapes and reflective brass.

Accommodations range from studios to one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites, as well as a penthouse outfitted with bespoke pieces.
