The Audi A4 to Go All-Electric in 2025

Audi is set to release an all-electric version of its popular executive sedan, the A4, by the end of 2025. This move comes as Audi aims to compete with rivals such as BMW, Mercedes, and Tesla in the electric vehicle segment. The electric A4 will be accompanied by a combustion engine variant, which will be named A5 in line with Audi’s new naming strategy for EVs.

The electric A4, which will share its design with Audi’s A6 and Q6 E-tron EVs, will feature short overhangs, low-slung bodywork, and a rakish glasshouse, distinguishing it from the fuel-powered A5. It will be based on Audi and Porsche’s new PPE architecture and will come equipped with a new-generation battery with a capacity of around 100kWh, providing a maximum range of nearly 640km. The A4 E-tron will suport 800V charging and will be capable of adding 250km of range in just 10 minutes.

The A4 EV is expected to offer a range of variants, including rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options, with power outputs ranging from 396bhp to 510bhp. Audi’s focus on its RS brand suggests that an RS-badged electric version of the A4 will follow in the future.

Inside the A4, a human-centric layout will be adopted, featuring a trio of high-definition screens and augmented reality head-up display. Audi also plans to offer “on-demand” features, allowing owners to add additional functions and features post-purchase.
