The Culture and Media Office of the Supreme Council of Family Affairs in Sharjah organized, within the activities of the Sharjah Cultural Salon, an intellectual session under the title “Children’s Author Culture between the Language of the Child and the Adolescent.” the session was held by the well-known author Amal Farah, moderated by Dr. Saeed Al-Amoudi, and the session began with an introductory video by author Amal Farah. , who specializes in writing for children, and the recipient of a number of awards and honors, including the UNESCO International Prize for Tolerance in Children’s Books.

Amal Farah opened her speech by noting that the title of the session suggests that there is a classification that divides the recipient into a child and a young person, when childhood is actually the remaining stage of all ages.

Values

She emphasized that children’s literature is an important part of any work that addresses the mind and conscience, serving as a space for release from the constraints of pressure and giving us the ability to bear the world and deal with it better.

And that children’s and youth literature means language, the degree of cumulative linguistic awareness and the experience that the child has not yet lived. Also, the voices claiming that our children do not like to read is a false claim and perception that needs to be corrected, and deduced the intensity of the spread of “Harry Potter” books among young Arabs and children. The importance of reading and children’s literature outcomes.

influential literature

Amal emphasized that one of the most difficult forms of writing is writing for the child, and not, as some think, that it is the easiest and easiest writing, since I see that there is no literature for adults and literature for young people, but there is a language that I take care of and take care of while writing to reach the mind of the recipient, and to be very influential, with the need to recognize children’s literature as an influential, purposeful and valuable literature that discusses concerns and issues, answers questions, and opens a horizon for knowledge. It is this literature that makes reading sustainable and important.

Amal Farah pointed out that in the Arab world we do not produce programs, series and films dedicated to children, but rather import them from abroad, so we need a general cultural context for the child to realize the importance of reading, because it really is purposeful development of any distinguished work Teaching the child from the ground up, so that the work must be thought-provoking, systematic and positively influential to create attention and thinking in the child.

About the importance of raising the child’s cultural level through what we write for him, Amal Farah said: The author feeds on the reader’s time, so he is responsible and accountable for this time The reader must feel that he did not waste his time. money and time with this book, but on the contrary gave him thought and experience, science and literature.

Similarly, when we write to the child, ideas are the real engine of every work we do, even if they are intangible, so when you decide to write, you are sharing your ideas with the reader, and therefore when we writing to the child, writing with the child’s spirit that lives deep within us, and at the same time we seek to raise the culture, awareness and experience the child through what we give it.
