The Federal Youth Authority in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology for Students in Dubai organized the fourth session of the “Youth Essentials 101” initiative titled “Youth Basics and Food Habits”. Inaugurated by Her Excellency Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Youth Affairs, the course witnessed wide youth participation and interaction in the presence of His Excellency Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, His Excellency Dr. Faisal Al Ayyan, director of the higher technical colleges and a number of officials and specialists. .
In her speech to open the course, Her Excellency Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Youth Affairs, emphasized that educating young people and introducing them to healthy healthy nutritional practices and sustainable diet would reflect positively on their daily life practices and make them productive people with mental and physical fitness that fulfills their aspirations and helps them fulfill their roles. The Foundation, in collaboration with its partners, will continue its efforts to empower young people to reach their full potential and invest them in various avenues of construction and development in line with the vision of the wise leadership. His Excellency Al Mazrouei thanked the teams and management of Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, Dubai Health Authority, Emirates Foundation for Health Services, Higher Colleges of Technology and external therapeutic services – SEHA, United Arab Emirates University and Supreme Council for Family Affairs for their central role in engaging young people and making this session a success.
In his speech, His Excellency Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, emphasized that the Center is making great efforts to promote a culture of proper nutritional practices, especially as indicators in this regard show that there is a health concern over the increase in obesity in the Emirati society, adding that the UAE government and local governments put among its priorities the provision of specific policies regarding the provision of healthy food and that at the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health they launched the “Healthy” program, which helps to provide nutritional knowledge and provide important relevant information, to facilitate the decision-making and purchasing process, explain it and ensure that the benefits of the program reach the widest possible scope in society. sub-programs were identified, including “Healthy for healthy menus”, “Healthy for displaying calories on menus” and “Healthy for healthy groceries and supermarkets”.
The sessions addressed a number of main themes, in particular the scourge of obesity and excessive eating and the importance of regulating the amount of food on a balanced daily basis, far from deprivation leading to great harm. The speakers unanimously agreed that the psychological factor and self-satisfaction are crucial to making the best and healthiest choices, whether choosing food, sports or other forms of practice.
