BEST HOTELS IN LANZAROTE

From sun-kissed family hotels in Dubai to family holidays in Portugal, winter is an excellent time to visit Europe and Lanzarote is up there as one of the top places to soak up the rays.

Located 80 miles off the northwest coast of Africa, Lanzarote is the northernmost island in the Canaries archipelago. Just 37 miles long and 12 miles wide, it’s famous for its stark volcanic landscape, black sand beaches and year-round sunshine.

The entire island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In the north of the island is Timanfaya National Park, the barren lava fields of the Timanfaya volcano which has been gently erupting for nearly 300 years.

On the south coast is the island capital, Arrecife and the beach resorts of Puerto del Carmen, which has four miles of beaches and a lively nightlife, and Costa Teguise, a quieter and more upmarket resort. On the southern tip of the island overlooking the neighbouring island, Fuerteventura, Playa Blanca caters mainly for the family crowd.

But it’s far from a cultural desert. Lanzarote is the home of Spanish artist and architect, César Manrique. You can visit his former home and studio in Taro de Tahiche, which he created out of giant lava bubbles.

To help you make the most of your trip to Lanzarote, you’ll want to stay in one of its loveliest hotels, whether you’re travelling as a couple, a family or solo.

From contemporary beach resorts to rural finca hotels, we’ve cherry picked some of the best hotels in Lanzarote for your next sun-drenched escape.
