They fight climate change through reforestation in Huixquilucan

To contribute to combating climate change, increasing the green surface of the territory and beautification the urban environment, the government of Huixquilucan planted 20,100 trees of different species, as part of the 2023 reforestation campaign, which started in the rainy season and also helps providing a home and protection for local animals.

The president of the municipality, Romina Contreras Carrasco, explained differently endemic species so they can adapt to the environment more easily and municipal climate, which allows a higher percentage of survival of planted specimens; Likewise, the donation of 11,167 plants to citizens who requested itwhich allows urban and private gardens to be beautiful.

“We must continue to unite efforts to restore and establish fauna and floraa, because improving the environment has many benefits that affect the social and environmental levels. In my government, we will continue with actions in favor of the environment so that the 60 percent of our territory continues to be green and because of this we have the participation of the citizens, who very enthusiastically joined the different reforestation days that we are doing, in order to have better results,” emphasized the mayor.

Romina Contreras added that her administration has commitment to preserve nature for the benefit of present and future generationss, so the tours are made in the forest areas of the towns of La Cañada, Llano Grande, Piedra Grande, San Juan Yautepec and Santa Cruz Ayotuxcowith the aim of preventing logging or forest fires, as well as finding and preparing properties for future reforestation.

He noted that the Government of Huixquilucan, through the General Directorate of Agricultural and Forestry Development, this year, distributed 15 thousand information leaflets on forest culture, to raise the awareness of the population about the conservation of ecosystems and biodiversity, considering that forests help combat global climate change and restore endangered species.
