It is not every day that you make world records, but for UAE based athlete Sean Burgess, it was a challenge he made to himself by breaking a Guinness World Record. How did he do it? By crossing seven Emirates in the UAE by foot in just seven days!

Sean, an athlete in the UAE wanted to do something extraordinary, by living an extraordinary life. He broke the record under the ‘fastest crossing of the United Arab Emirates on foot’ category.

A total of 650km expedition, he began his journey on March 2 at Al Ghuwaifat on the Saudi Arabian border and finished his walk at the Fujairah coast. Sean walked around 18 hours a day to make sure he finishes the walk within seven days.

But his aim was not just to break the world record, but also to help towards a noble cause. His walk also aimed at raising money for a Ugandan charity –Soft Power Education that aims at improving the quality of life through education. They also support children with learning disabilities and helps them realise their potential.

He shared his excitement through his social media posts. “You could spend a lifetime exploring this beautiful country and still not see half of what it has to offer. Driving back from a morning in Wadi Showka, I decided to stop off and do a bit of scrambling over Jebel Al Fayah (next to Fossil Rock).
Less than an hour from Dubai and you can have adventures like this. Especially in these difficult times, I feel extremely lucky to call this place home. That’s why I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to cross the UAE next week in an attempt to break a world record and raise money for an incredible charity,” read his post before he started a big feat.
