Even though residents are experiencing chilly nights and misty mornings, autumn in the UAE will continue for two months.

According to Dr Ahmed Habib of the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM), who told Khaleej Times on Thursday, “relatively cool weather and chills in the air will continue to persist across the country, with possible fog will form.”

“We’re still in autumn. The nights are dropping and some may feel colder, but it’s not winter yet. The lowest temperature recorded right now is between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius. But in winter, it’s going to drop further. “

Explaining the fall temperature transition between hot summers and cold winters, where the weather gets better, the nights become warm and humid, and the days are hot, he added: “In autumn, the temperature naturally drops. So, winter starts on December 23, Fall is over. We have two more months of fall.”

“Currently, the Rakhna region of Al Ain recorded a minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius today (Thursday). But this region has some unique characteristics that are a bit different from the rest of the UAE. So, compared to the rest of the country, there are The temperature is always lower.”

Elaborating on the factors that led to this, he said: “The area is affected by certain conditions like wind speed and humidity. Rakhna is not a mountainous area, it is an open area, but due to the above factors, the temperature is lower there There are also a lot of trees in the area and easter and southeasterly winds affect and cause the temperature to drop there. Generally, mountains like Jebel Jais have the coldest temperatures in the winter months.”

This (autumn) season experiences high relative humidity in the morning, temperatures remain high during the day, and fog forms in the early morning.

Habib noted, “The UAE will see stable weather conditions over the next week. We will see increased humidity at night and fog may form in some areas. Daytime highs in the country are generally between 35 and 41 degrees Celsius The minimum temperature will be between 22 and 27 degrees Celsius.”

How the climate will change in October

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) said earlier in its monthly climate report that October was marked by a significant drop in temperatures and rapidly changing weather conditions as the country moved from summer to winter.

“October is one of the second transition months between summer and winter, this period is often characterized by sharp changes in weather conditions, with temperatures starting to drop significantly compared to September, especially in the second half of the month ,” the NCM said in the report.

“Due to the influence of the land/sea wind circulation, southeasterly winds prevail late at night and in the morning, and become northwesterly in the afternoon and evening.”

In October, relative humidity is usually higher in the early morning, gradually decreases as the sun emerges, and then increases again after sunset, according to forecasters.

The average relative humidity in October will be around 51%, making fog more likely, especially at midnight and early morning.
