Factory orders increase in March

New orders of manufactured goods increased $9.1 billion, or 1.6%, from the prior month to $584.5 billion in March, the Commerce Department said today. Shipments of manufactured goods increased $1.5 billion or 0.3% to $583.3 billion, while inventories were virtually unchanged at $857.7 billion.
