A special summer festival will celebrate the return of Norwich Cathedral’s historic pipe organ and now the search is on for volunteers to join the festival’s front of house team.
The Organ Reborn! 2024 Festival will take place from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 July 2024 and will celebrate the first anniversary of the organ’s return following an ambitious rebuild project to ensure people can enjoy its music for generations to come.
From epic concerts with three Cathedral Choirs, the BBC Singers and Britten Sinfonia to a Battle of the Organs, there is lots for music fans to look forward to throughout the nine-day event.
Now Norwich Cathedral is looking to recruit up to 24 volunteer festival stewards to play a key role in the celebrations and help provide a warm welcome to audiences.
Volunteers will have the chance to gain unique experience of working on a music festival as well enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the magnificent musical instrument which features an incredible 5,767 pipes and is one of the biggest organs in the country.
Master of Music Ashley Grote said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating the return of Norwich Cathedral’s historic pipe organ with our Organ Reborn! 2024 Festival in July and our volunteer stewards will be an important part of the festival team.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for music fans to get involved in the musical life of the Cathedral and to gain valuable experience.
“We have an amazing line-up of musicians looking forward to taking part in this unique nine-day celebration so it really will be a very special event to be involved in!”
The volunteer festival stewards will be front of house ambassadors for the Cathedral, welcoming audience members, checking tickets, showing people to their seats and dealing with general enquiries.
The volunteer festival stewards will be required to commit to assisting at three events over the festival period from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 July 2024. There may also be opportunities to continue volunteering at the Cathedral after the festival.
This opportunity is open to people aged 18 and over and the deadline to apply is Monday 13 May.
Volunteers will attend an induction and training session.
