Clerkenwell Design Week will take place in London between 21-23 May 2024. Anticipate nearly 600 carefully selected events dispersed around the EC1 neighborhood in East Central London, more than 160 regional design shops, and 300 exhibitors occupying more than 12 venues.
“We’re thrilled to return this May with Clerkenwell Design Week,” said Marlon Cera-Marle, Design Division Director of Media 10 which organises the annual design festival. “As one of the most attended specification events in the A&D calendar, it also serves as an important platform to discover new talent and ideas.”
“This year, we’re excited to showcase an unprecedented number of participating brands, reflecting strong demand from both home and overseas. In response, we’re expanding our exhibition and installation spaces, including the newly revamped, pedestrian-friendly Clerkenwell Green. Anticipation is high for what’s in store, from diverse brands and showrooms to exciting partners, features and special events. Clerkenwell will host site-specific installations, special projects, and collaborations, so, here are a few of them:
2LG Studio has given a vintage helter-skelter a new lease of life. The colorful installation, “Stay Playful (When No One Feels Like Playing),” is located in Spa Fields and celebrates the studio’s 10th anniversary. It offers visitors a playful spectacle and is inspired by the designer’s childhood memories.
Also, another work by London-based artist Ben Cullen Williams will present an audio-visual installation called “Grid System” at the House of Detention. The installation explores the impact of grids on our physical spaces and day-to-day lives. Williams has previously worked with well-known artists such as Marina Abramović and showcased his works in several international galleries including the Musée d’arts de Nantes and Sadler’s Wells.
Futher, Duffy London is collaborating with Orsi Orban to transform St John’s Gate with their latest installation, “Gatekeepers.” The sculptures are inspired by organic forms found in nature and evoke a dynamic sense of movement. The patterns interact with the flowing forms of the final pieces, imbuing them with a sense of organic vitality.
